To institutionalize the development of the Khadi and Village Industries sector, the Government of India first constituted the All India Khadi and Village Industries Board in 1953. ...
Empower rural India through innovation, inclusivity, and sustainable Khadi growth.

The proposed amendments to the Khadi and Village Industries Commission Act, 1956 are a welcome step to modernize the sector in tune with today's market and technology.
Diversifying the Khadi and Village Industries sector, adopting clean energy like solar power, and aligning village industries with MSME classifications will boost rural entrepreneurship and sustainability. I especially support the inclusion of women, SC/ST/ OBC communities, and experts in the Commission, as it will ensure inclusivity and better representation. It would also be beneficial if more digital tools and e-commerce platforms are promoted under KVIC to expand market reach for artisans and rural producers.

Subject: Feedback on Proposed Amendments to the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) Act, 1956
To: MyGov (or appropriate Ministry of MSME feedback address)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to share my views on the proposed amendments to the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) Act, 1956, as invited by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).
I support the key objectives outlined in the proposed amendments, which aim to align the legislative framework with current sectoral needs, promote innovation, and strengthen sustainable village industries. Specifically:
Formalization: The proposal to align the "Village Industry" definition with the MSME Act and facilitate Udyam Registration is a highly welcome step. This formalization will be crucial for rural entrepreneurs to access institutional credit and benefit from various government schemes.
Thank you for providing this opportunity for citizen feedback.
Sincerely,
Ashutosh Kumar Singh

The proposed amendments to the KVIC Act, 1956 aim to modernize rural industries while preserving tradition. By promoting clean energy, updating industry definitions, and ensuring inclusivity, these reforms empower artisans, women, and youth. They blend sustainability with innovation, strengthening rural entrepreneurship and aligning with India’s “Vocal for Local” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” vision.
These amendments represent a balanced blend of tradition and transformation. By integrating renewable energy, modern entrepreneurship, and inclusive representation, the government is laying a strong foundation for rural self-sufficiency and sustainable development.
If implemented effectively, these reforms could transform Khadi and Village Industries into vibrant, competitive, and green rural enterprises — fulfilling Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of self-reliant villages while aligning with India’s modern “Vocal for Local” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” missions.
