National Highway Authority of India currently is planning to build a citizen facing interface which can cater to all highway related needs of NH commuters. NHAI already has an Android mobile application called Sukhaad Yatra (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rsawh.nhia&hl=en_IN&gl=US) which needs to be upgraded and advanced further.

Citizens are invited to share their ideas on how the Sukhad Yatra app can be improved with additional features/ integrations to better service the needs of citizens. The end outcome is to improve the experience of NH commuters and build a robust medium of 2-way communication.

The tool will not be limited to but can cover the following areas:
● Informing users of construction and maintenance activities
● Allowing users to register complaints pertaining to the condition of the highway or highway activities such as toll (for eg. If wait times for a toll gate are too long or if FasTag is not working at a gate)
● Allow users to rate highways on various characteristics of the highway around their experience as a rider (on both negative and positive characteristics of experience, for example whether the NH offers a scenic route or view)
● Allow user to access emergency and first response services on the highway
● Allow users to access information on wayside amenities, petrol pumps, EV stations etc. Information about location of facilities along the route can be searched on Google Maps but this is hard to access for non smartphone users.
● Allow users to report traffic congestion, accidents, debris, toll-relates issues, request EV charging points etc to local command centres (Eg. Waze)
● The interface should be able to cater to user-needs of commuters with and without smartphones
● The interface should have a strong focus on UX, intuitive and centred around the day-to-day needs and experience of highway users.

The interface can also operate as a platform through which multiple existing private and public applications can link to such as NH’s toll free number, toll management system etc or travel related apps (MapMyIndia, Google Maps etc) which already have a high user-base. The platform should leverage strengths of existing IT applications and not reinvent where necessary.

The design should cater to all kinds of NH users such as:
● Commercial (trucking etc) who may or may not have a smartphone and a user design which caters to their needs
● Personal long-distance commuter which may not be as frequent but may have access to smartphones
● Local residents who live around the highways and use it more frequently than private long distance commuters

Submissions to this can be in the form of app mock-ups/ prototypes, presentations, concept notes on platform and other interfaces, list of desired features by commuters etc.

Tha last date of submission of ideas is 15th June 2022.

Mr.Prime Minister, Of late, many projects that are under taken by NHAI face hurdles in land acquisition . In many cases such projects are half finished & left in abeyance due to land acquisition problem. One classic example is a fly over in a city Trichy in TN is almost ready & partly operational. One stretch of the fly over could not be completed as about 100 mtrs of land belongs to defense & they have not given the land. The fly over is ready 4 years back but not operational. Few hundred crores of money is stuck with out any use. My suggestion is that for any project under taken by NHAI , they need to ensure that the complete stretch of land are firmed up before taking up the project. Also This will eliminate cost over run due to delay in completion which is mainly due to land acquisition issues. If there is any land acquisition problem that project should never be taken up again. Eg: Chennai Salem high way was planned couple of years back and shelved It. But its being revived now!

In NHAI app, 1. integrate with google map and show route map, nearby famous traveling spot (park, temple, etc). 2. make section to put complain of road, any accident happened, etc. 3. integrate with zomato, etc app and road side dhaba. So anyone can apply for food online in road side dhaba. 4. integrate with road side automobile service centers, Petrol pump, police, so that they can ask help. 5. if any person continues travelling for 6 month without any complaint, Chalan, then provide discounts on insurance premium. 6. It is a prime concern for smooth running on NH. There have been various cases of rash driving, drunk driving, etc which not only cost the lives of drivers, and if it is public transport, the losses mount. Now it is possible to track the activity of the NH traffic by enabling a dedicated team in a place to monitor the activity by connecting cameras at major points and digital detection like Uber and OLa are applied. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to be leveraged optimization. The controlling people will be well equipped to provide instant help through creating basic infrastrutre at more places.

There should be an option to report if any vehicle in NH suddenly due to breakdown..If there any passengers they should be shifted to a nearest city. Like Railways a waiting room can be constructed in major cities and passengers can book a space through the App and stay here at a nominal charges. So that aged people, Physically Challenged people can go and stay here till there alternate vehicle is arranged or their vehicle is serviced. This waiting room should be alloted only for vehicle breakdown or the vehicle met with some minor accident. For minor accidents or any vehicle damage happens unexpectedly in NH a rescue team should be sent to attend the wounded passengers and police should quickly solve the case without delaying. NHAI can introduce bonus reward scheme and give Points to those who insure the vehicle and doesn't have any traffic rules violation case on their vehicle. This will encourage many people to drive properly without violating the traffic rules and drive neatly

Dear Sir/Madam, My honest suggestion is that please control propaganda people. No mater what they have if somebody choose to be driver or counter boy or street seller than he should not insult customer or should not work as a gang to target a person so he will spend money on luxary items to gain respect in society. If your dream is to really to promote make in India or encourage R&D then please control idiots of propaganda. Why are they so reckless and don't have urge to earn money. May be land prices are culprits or their bribe money is culprit. we did hardwork to come so far and wanted to do hardwork to solve problems. Please keep an eye on terrorists network in propaganda team. I tried my best in India for the past 12 years. As a solo person I have limitations. How long I can waste my time? Thanks.
