Every year 27th September is celebrated as World Tourism Day. This year the theme of World Tourism Day is Tourism and Rural Development. Tourism helps rural communities hold onto their unique natural and cultural heritage, supporting conservation projects, including those safeguarding endangered species, lost traditions or flavours. Tourism has proven to be a lifeline for many rural communities. The sector is not just a leading source of employment, particularly for women and youth but it also provides opportunities for territorial cohesion and socio-economic inclusion for even the most remote regions.
Our villages and the people who live there are a true custodians and manifestation of our culture.
As we work towards more sustainable development of our country, developing related hard and soft infrastructure and promoting tourism in rural India is much required.

Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with MyGov invites you to share your views ideas on Rural India- How it can leverage tourism.

By changing simple things we can make RURAL INDIA into TOURIST INDIA. 1. Encouraging integrated farming - so we get beautiful view, income to farmer, gaining knowledge. 2.Making people aware of local culture and traditions. 3.Food - it's more important to learn about region specialized food - health and strength, taste also attracts people. 4. Popularizing traditional arts like warli, madhurbani etc 5. Well influential guides - make tourists to feel elated and attract many more people.

population. The rural population resides mainly in villages — the 2011 census reports roughly 800 million people living in more than 600,000 villages.

Rural India is the beauty of our country as it's not only dependable on agriculture they actually live or enjoy the custom and traditions. To use it at the best first we need to aware as well as educate the local people of the Village so that they can easily communicate and secondly start recognising the unknown villages or area and highlight them through media. Since I am a travelor, I want to roam each states of our country! I have been roam approx 9 states of India! My opinion to enhance our tourism accross the nation is - our government need to reserve all vintage heritage and monument and take responsibility to make good infrastructure and transportation facilities! So that tourists can easily reach to that place! We should also need to arrange shelter or guest rooms, foods and 1st aids services at reasonable price. start a public tour and travel
