Every year 27th September is celebrated as World Tourism Day. This year the theme of World Tourism Day is Tourism and Rural Development. Tourism helps rural communities hold onto their unique natural and cultural heritage, supporting conservation projects, including those safeguarding endangered species, lost traditions or flavours. Tourism has proven to be a lifeline for many rural communities. The sector is not just a leading source of employment, particularly for women and youth but it also provides opportunities for territorial cohesion and socio-economic inclusion for even the most remote regions.
Our villages and the people who live there are a true custodians and manifestation of our culture.
As we work towards more sustainable development of our country, developing related hard and soft infrastructure and promoting tourism in rural India is much required.

Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with MyGov invites you to share your views ideas on Rural India- How it can leverage tourism.

Hi,my name is Shreyas Raj Singh and I have a opinion that if we want to improve the tourism in rural areas then we can guide the local people to help the outsiders or foreigners and sometimes when foreigners come to visit then, local people always charge them higher money for a normal product or in transportation which makes a wrong impression on tourist that they are charging a lot more tax. We surely have to educate the local people that how they have to tackle the communication with tourists.

Destination marketing can take an active role in educating stakeholders on the importance of reputation management, on how to monitor, respond to and act on review feedback, and on the relationship between customer service and social media. Only when DMOs, CVBs, governments and other tourism organizations step up and provide the leadership, training and support necessary to manage online reputation will they realize the full benefits. This includes higher visitor satisfaction.

Rural India has a vast scope for Tourism. Villages surrounding Udaipur have countless artisans renowned for their arts and crafts. Foreign tourists are known to gravitate to the soul of India and that is what these artisans help create. There could be programs that go beyond these local artisans at Fairs, Melas etc. We could boast of the hardwork that goes into the art, both offline and online.

India is rich in its food diversity. To showcase the indigenous food items "Bharat Bhojan" food stalls on the sides of NHs should be initiated. In these stalls, indigenous food items should be provided by the rural entrepreneurs. These stalls can be started under the PPP mode with an aim to bring forward rural entrepreneurs under 'Atmanirbhar Bharat'.These stalls could also sell farm fresh organic vegetables harvested by the rural farmers.

-states should develop their own separate portal in which all the information of their famous sites will be their. -states should separately created the environment and infra structure for the category in which they are famous for example-utrakhand is famous for their flower named as BRAHMAKAMAL so they must create a separate identity park for it in which variety of same kind flower are grown. -state should include subject in school in curriculum in which they are aware from their states.
