Every year 27th September is celebrated as World Tourism Day. This year the theme of World Tourism Day is Tourism and Rural Development. Tourism helps rural communities hold onto their unique natural and cultural heritage, supporting conservation projects, including those safeguarding endangered species, lost traditions or flavours. Tourism has proven to be a lifeline for many rural communities. The sector is not just a leading source of employment, particularly for women and youth but it also provides opportunities for territorial cohesion and socio-economic inclusion for even the most remote regions.
Our villages and the people who live there are a true custodians and manifestation of our culture.
As we work towards more sustainable development of our country, developing related hard and soft infrastructure and promoting tourism in rural India is much required.

Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with MyGov invites you to share your views ideas on Rural India- How it can leverage tourism.

TOURISM FOR NATURAL BEAUTY

The local people from rural areas can also establish local handmade products shop which will attract tourists. Also they can build local look alike homestay (Like using palm leaves , coconut leaves or mud houses which were originally used in many places to build homes). It will attract a large number of tourists and they will want to enjoy the authentic local ambience.

In different parts of India - From North to South and from East to West there are different cultures. These cultures are more visible in rural areas because unlike big cities not many people from other areas come to stay there. So in these rural areas there are more chances for tourists to enjoy these authentic cultures which can present a vast opportunity for tourism. For example village people can establish organic food restaurants with their local food which will definitely attract tourists.

Government should do something in village area according to need of foreigner...... Peoples from other countries are not interested to see big building and malls of our country... because they already seen a lot of these things.....so in my opinion we have to encourage the culture of village area and advertise a lot.
