The girl child today faces inequality and gender based discriminations even before birth. The nation cannot move forward unless women are given opportunity to realize their full potential and contribute to nation building.

Given this context, please share your thoughts, ideas, suggestions and feedback on how we can change the discriminatory social construct in order to celebrate the girl child. What should be our communication strategy for improving the situation and reach out to people?

Idea for women safety- Police should form special teams of 5-10 members including 2 lady personnels. All should be in civil clothes. They should let the lady personnel roam in dimly lit areas of the city at night time and other personnel should follow her but not in sight. Any person or group trying to harass the lady personnel should be arrested or warned. This will act as a deterrent and fear for anyone trying to harass women.

Railway ticket counters are being given to private parties on commission basis. Why they are not being preferentially given to Ex-service men or war widows or physically handicapped, sportsmen, and other deserving people

It is very difficult for a divorcee/widow to get marry again. But it is not a problem for a man. All man wants virgin wife but their virginity doesn't matter. This is the society. Even for a rape survivor, the society is so cruel. It is the survivor who lost everything. But why? She has not done any crime, then why she has to suffer? Can't our society change. In the case of rape, especially women tell nonsense things. Being a lady, how can they do?

It is the upbringing, who made a boy superior to a girl and he starts thinking a girl an usable thing. When a girl say anything, it hurts their ego. In professional world also, people are not very comfortable in working under a woman. Corporate thinks, she is getting married, so she will leave job. 3 years of marriage, she will have baby. So, no need to give promotion. Company thinks on behalf of a lady employee.

Even in well to do family, less money is being spent on girl education, because dowry needs to be paid. Why can't we give similar standard education to a girl and a boy in the same family?

First discrimination is being done in the home itself (especially by mother: a lady). It is being taught to a boy that you are superior to a girl and so you don't need to learn and do household jobs. This is the job of a girl because she will be the bahu (a bonded labor: no appreciation and no remuneration) of another house

Rape is more of a social issue than a legal issue. No doubt strong punishment and speedy judgement is required. All know that for murder, death penalty can be awarded. Even though, every day, this serious crime is happening. So, to remove rape type shame from the society, social change is required.

Social change: A huge shift in mindset is required for Girl to have their respect. In our society expectations are more from girls than boys. Even, rituals during marriage is more for a girl as if she is going for kalapani. Expectation started form the day of marriage. People don't understand that she also need some time to adjust in new environment. In laws should accept her as their own child and should give her space and freedom
