Under Smart City Mission stage 1 & 2 challenge, the Municipal Corporation of Thoothukudi has received overwhelming response from its citizens, stakeholders in Smart City suggestions and ideas.

As a part of citizen engagement & consultation process Thoothukudi corporation organized a wide range of activities - e.g. submission of polling forms, essay writing competition, stakeholder consultation, social media (MyGov, Facebook, Twitter, Corporation website ), voting(online & offline) and Focus group discussions etc.

On the basis of almost 7788 (both offline and online) suggestions and votes received from citizens of Thoothukudi , the Thoothukudi Municipal Corporation in co-operation with its consultants has prepared a Smart City Proposal document for the City which encompasses different aspirations and dreams to be realized for the port based and industrial city development.

So, we invite all citizens of Thoothukudi to participate in this review process where they can give their opinion about these documents to make it the best Smart City Proposal.

Digging up the roads for various reasons should be stopped. Proper planning should go in keeping the next 5 years in mind. Precast structure should be used to lay the cables so that those could be opened up easily for maintenance.

Roads once laid should last the period it is built for. If not the penalty along with the repair cost should go to the contractor who laid the road.
