With a dramatic growth in elementary education enrolments and improvements in retention and transition rates in recent years, particularly amongst the more disadvantaged groups, there is an increasing pressure on the secondary schools to admit more students. With the enforcement of RTE Act and further improvement in retention and transition rates, demand for secondary schooling will grow rapidly in the coming years. The objective of this discussion group is to assess to what extent we have made quality education available, accessible and affordable to the target population in the age group of 14–18 years. How we can increase access to post elementary education across the country in a manner so as to ensure no child is denied the opportunity of completing his/her school education. In particular, how can we address the geographical and social disparities in secondary education?

Inject new blood and ideas into the system, stop retaining superannuated persons on pretext of experience, restore dignity and autonomy of teachers, make them accountable by" periodic review and extension/ termination" policy.Set educational institutions from the highest to the lowest free from the shackles of babudom and political masters.Give incentives to innovative minds and people of sound common sense ! Syllabi and teaching both must cater to the aspirations of our coming generations!

After learning secondary and Higher Secondary Education child should imbibe certain skills which can give him some earnings. This section of education should include Technical subjects such as DTP, Tally, Computer Diploma, Mobile Repairing, Confectionary, Bakery, Electrician & Fitter. When every child will get education of Std. Xth or XII with one of above skills then really India will get workforce trained in different trades which is beneficial for Make in India movement.

School students are burdened with preparing various projects in different subjects, some of which are waste of time, energy and money for the parents who actually have to run around to collect and purchase those project materials and in majority cases the parents do actually prepare those project for the students. Some from well to do background do outsource these projects to professionals. It is beyond understanding how such projects prepared mostly by parents can evaluate a student's skill/s?

Students from standard nine should be trained with skills required by the corporate houses, banks and other industries to be ready and accustomed with the domain knowledge in demand for jobs and entrepreneurship opportunities available. Subjects and chapters which have no significance in today's computer age should be discontinued as it is waste of time and merit of students who never never have to use or practice those subjects and chapters ever in their service careers.

5. All the students pursuing graduation or senior citizens must start a campaign to publicize & extend Sec. & Sr. Sec. Education. 6. Students can form a regd. club to update govt & hrd officials with latest education techniques which can revive the learned topic in a better way. 7. There is a need to open more no. of schools in rural areas. Since actual cream of students & athletes could be extracted from rural areas since rural Indians put in more efforts. 8. Appoint smart faculties (ideas).
