One of the important endeavors of the present government has been to improve the 'Ease of Living'. In simple words, this means that the citizen-government interface, in matters of daily routine, must be made as seamless as possible and as citizen friendly as possible. Among other things, this has translated into reforming many rules and regulations and in an overwhelming number of cases completely doing away with such antediluvian rules which had not only outlived their utility, but in many cases were frankly anti-people. The mandate has been clear - between the citizens and the governments, the rules and processes must defer to ensuring the ease of living of citizens.

Consider for example the earlier rule of seeking gazetted officers attestation to validate one's documents before appearing in exams. That rule is now history. Trusting the citizens was the mandate and self-attestation is now the new rule. Or consider the move to scrap interviews for non-gazetted Group D, C and B government jobs. In one stroke the entire industry of 'recommendations' has been shut down and pure merit has become the norm.

What are other such outdated and ill-conceived rules, regulations or practices that hinder the normal day to day lived experience of the people? In day-to-day governance issues what are the processes or system that can be simplified or simply done away with? Which are processes that serve the exact opposite purpose they are intended to serve? Rules, regulations and laws that serve no useful social purpose but merely create unnecessary red tape and bureaucracy and therefore need to go?

MyGov invites citizens, members of civil society, journalists, students, teachers, police officers, government employees, Parliamentarians, academics experts, bureaucrats, social media influencers, Think Tanks and all other interested people to give their considered view on the subject.

The data available with the Union government , based on the Census carried out in 2011 show the number of employees working under Central government is 30.87 lakh.To utilise their full efficiency the job experiences has to be given equal preference with the qualified freshers.Suppose a Diploma Engineer who has been working within a Government organisation for two decades should not be superseded by a fresh Graduate Engineer who is having less service experience within the Government sector

Sir, Just a suggestion, while creating e-way bill for unregistered, we enter URP. I guess Aadhar number for URP should be mandatory so that name and address fields gets auto populated and in this way fraud bills cannot be made ever (If Aadhar data is accurate and secure in government database). Thank you

Dear Honorable Prime Minister, to control the misuse of social media, I suggest to embed the content being uploaded with the name and number of the uploader/editor of the content. It should be carried with the content throughout the chain of forwards. With this, the person uploading the content will be conscious of the consequences and he/she becomes self regulated. 2nd benefit is that it is traceable at any point of time. Also, the content should uneditable like converting the text to pdf, etc.

My idea is to make India green by covering all loose soil with grass. Like they do in America. Also no designer tiles for foot paths, lets make them with normal cement as they do again in America. It will be cost effective.

I have been wanting to congratulate the Modi government on deciding to dissolve the UGC. I spent 15 minutes searching under the MHRD issues. I could not find a place where I can express my views on how to improve quality of education. This site needs to be more user friendly and make it clear how one can express views. Even the so called open discussions are now closed. This site needs to be updated frequently. Please let me know where can I write on education reforms.
