Let us use the rejected railway concert sleepers to construct small barrages of say 5 ft. height across many small tributaries & streams of rivers at as many spots as possible. Water will be made to WALK, instead of running. Thus underground water gets enriched & will be helpful during summer. Water in the river can be quickly pumped to agri. Purpose & save electricity. More water to human beings, animals, plants & industries leads to better progress. At low cost we get more benefits.

This is the Aral Sea in central Asia. Formerly one of the four largest lakes in the world with an area of 68,000 km2 (26,300 sq mi). Now you see the lake's condition. This is the effect of stopping supply of the water to the catchment area. So we need the protection of supply channels for our water bodies, because these are the feeders of our water source.

For North India Luni, Ganga, Yamuna, Kosi and Brahmaputra along with other small rivers like Satluj, Beas and Ravi, can be connected through underground pipelines and canals to provide adequate drinking water in the states of Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Gujrat , Jharkhand, West Bengal and The National Capitol Territory Of India-Delhi. With this the once monsoon depending agriculture will end.

Water can be restored in natural flow path govt should ensure the contour and create small stopdams in the waterflow path &excess water will flow in natural path but the stopdams will raise the water level of the area which will help in irrigation and drinking water
