Sir, Water is an life streem. The value of water can know only one who living in desert land. To store water is basic thing ok. But the major problem is before 1947 the Indian Population is just 30 crore and water source is same as now what we getting. But 2014 population is 125 crore, means 4 time increased. So what we do now. We cannot go against the nature by doing all the things to get water ex: Bore wells, etc. First we must stop the population explosion. Then we can start watershed.

1) Linking all rivers. Incase of difficulty to link at surface level, it should be through deep tunnels. 2) Rain water harvesting in cities & Towns @ general locations ( road sides etc. sink as many bores ( 10 feet or so ) for easy perculation of water. 3) Check encroachments on water bodies and Reclaim all ponds, lakes, etc. 4) Treat sewage water at local segments and recharge the ground. 5) Enact strict legislation and create central Protection Force to check check water pollution.

Sir In all big cities and metros ,when ever heavy rain occurs there is heavy water logging. Some plan must be made up to build new deep water lakes nearby and see that the water is sent tothose tanks instead of letting it go in to dirty drains. The water is pure and can be utilised for in the sunny days .The cities greenery is loosing because of the concretization of the pavements and roads.Big trees are falling due to non percolation of rain water in to the roots of the trees.
