Example of Non-biodegradable waste - POLYETHENE, METAL CANS, PLASTIC BOTTLES, TYRES, NYLON, GLASS, DVD/CD. Awareness is required to the individual as well as to the corporates to avoid at least non-biodegradable waste. As religious sentiments are linked with the rivers in India, Dumping of flowers is not a major issue but dumping it with polyethene bag is an issue. Need to spread the knowledge(english & hindi) in all the ghats to avoid polythene bags, plastic & metal can be helpful.

As everyone knows the reason behind the polluted rivers is the dumping of the waste product into the rivers. Waste can be broadly divided into two categories; Non-biodegradable waste materials which cannot be broken down into non-poisonous or harmless substances in nature. The biodegradable waste can be broken down to non-poisonous substances in nature in due course of time. NOTE : The non-biodegradable waste are more harmful.

To Clean Ganga or even any of the Spiritual Place , Do one thing: (1) Stop all Offerings(भेंट) on Ghats. (2) Persons Hire on ghats for watching ganga, and they must be paid for their job. (3) Punishments should be given for those who littering around ganga.

I have suggestion to clean Ganga with less efforts and resources. Experts are working hard to clean Ganga. Actually we don’t need to clean Ganga by using machines because water of Ganga which is coming from Himalayas is NOT polluted. Water of Ganga is being polluted by dumping waste into it. Instead of Cleaning Ganga If we simply STOP all the waste being dumped into it. Flowing water will automatically clean the existing waste because flowing water has quality and memory to Clean it self.
