In December 2014 the United Nations declared 21st June as ‘International Day of Yoga’ after 177 nations across all continents of the world co-sponsored a resolution seeking the same.

When the resolution was adopted, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed immense joy on this and said that Yoga has the power to bring the entire humankind together. It may be recalled that the Prime Minister had mooted such an idea during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in September 2014.

You are requested to provide inputs on the following aspects relating to the marking of the first ever ‘International Day of Yoga’.

(1) How can the ‘International Day of Yoga’ be celebrated at the UN forum?

(2) Suggest creative ways in which the ‘International Day of Yoga’ can be celebrated at the world stage.

(3) What are ways in which we can mark the ‘International Day of Yoga’ across the length and breadth of India?

Best inputs and suggestions would be sent to the Prime Minister himself and would also be utilized.

Yoga should be promoted in India as it is the need of the hour for everyone to be healthy, mentally & physically fit.We Indians are blindly following western culture of gym,but still traditional methods of exercise still have a great importance. Surya Namaskar should also be promoted. We see that people from western countries are now slowly realizing importance of Yoga & Ayurveda but we people are busy following them without knowing our heritage & the things which India hav Gifted to the world.

Yoga and Ayurveda are great heritage of India. If these 2 are promoted well, globally it can earn a tremendous reputation to the country and also the revenue. A great work in this line is done at Hungary. Here first office inside the Indian embassy is a center of Ayush, promoting Yoga & Ayurveda. Resultantly there is so much awareness about both the subject in the country and there is high demand. My suggestion is to have such Ayush center in every embassy & high-commission.

Yoga is certainly a physical plus mental development exercise for maintaining the overall health. In our yog shastra, as taught by our Rishis, is a mean for spiritual development and ultimately knowing thyself and union with God. And this all achieved by mental power to get the desired result. In initial stages of studentship this power will help in studies and getting innovative ideas. This way it should be taught to the children, teens and students.

Parents instill good or bad habits in children. Let parents yoga, then they can teach their children NO TO DRUG AND DRINK. It's alarming that drinking is becoming a popular social habit.

Yoga should be a part of college/university studies. Medical and engineering students who have to cope with stress of tough exams must practice yoga and listen to good music. It will keep them away from drug and alcohol. It's high time we realized that stress kills.
