In December 2014 the United Nations declared 21st June as ‘International Day of Yoga’ after 177 nations across all continents of the world co-sponsored a resolution seeking the same.

When the resolution was adopted, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed immense joy on this and said that Yoga has the power to bring the entire humankind together. It may be recalled that the Prime Minister had mooted such an idea during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in September 2014.

You are requested to provide inputs on the following aspects relating to the marking of the first ever ‘International Day of Yoga’.

(1) How can the ‘International Day of Yoga’ be celebrated at the UN forum?

(2) Suggest creative ways in which the ‘International Day of Yoga’ can be celebrated at the world stage.

(3) What are ways in which we can mark the ‘International Day of Yoga’ across the length and breadth of India?

Best inputs and suggestions would be sent to the Prime Minister himself and would also be utilized.

Yoga is a way of life, a spiritual awakening and an activity which keeps both the mind and body healthy. It is a matter of great pride for India that the United Nations has declared June 21 as International Day of Yoga and has also the backing of 177 nations. Yoga should therefore become an inalienable part of our daily life.To make yoga all pervasive, it should firstly be made a part of school curriculum in the physical training period.

We will make compulsory training program for all school children, this will be good if we done for our entire nation. And one more important point, we need to teach the yoga assanas with the meaning and purpose of that assana, if we know the meaning then only we can practice with whole heart.

Patanjali's Yogasutra mentions of Ida- cold current, Pingala- Hot Current and Sushumna- the balanced current. So is the Society where Economic activities- involving Industries, manufacturing units and others generate Hot Current; while Ecological activities namely- soil, water and air conservation by way of Natural Resource Management like forest , wildlife conservation generate cold current. Balance of the Economy and Ecology alone can sustain balance like Sushumna.

It is a great contribution of India. India taught the world spirituality. It can now teach both sciences and yoga. Only we need to wake up and realize our full potential. MyGov is a great initiative for people's participation.

Yoga has known to be effective for curing many mental disorders too, can the govt recruit teachers to institutes like NIMHANS, mentally challenged schools to teach yoga to those mentally challenged children and ppl with disabilities. It is a new type of treatment which has been successful in NIMHANS and requires more support.

To start with, 1.On Yoga day lets have a small short movie on YOGA which highlights history, origin & benefits.Let Yoga masters demonstrate to the world few Aasan EX: Suryanamaskar,Meditation etc. 2. Lets do Yoga in MASS through out the country. 3. Each year let us recognize great contributors to Yoga & make them ambassador to spread & teach Yoga to the world. 4.IMPORTANTLY CAN THE GOVT RECRUIT 2-3 YOGA TEACHERS TO MENTALLY CHALLENGED SCHOOL,NIMHANS to help them overcome their prob with YOGA.
