In December 2014 the United Nations declared 21st June as ‘International Day of Yoga’ after 177 nations across all continents of the world co-sponsored a resolution seeking the same.

When the resolution was adopted, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed immense joy on this and said that Yoga has the power to bring the entire humankind together. It may be recalled that the Prime Minister had mooted such an idea during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in September 2014.

You are requested to provide inputs on the following aspects relating to the marking of the first ever ‘International Day of Yoga’.

(1) How can the ‘International Day of Yoga’ be celebrated at the UN forum?

(2) Suggest creative ways in which the ‘International Day of Yoga’ can be celebrated at the world stage.

(3) What are ways in which we can mark the ‘International Day of Yoga’ across the length and breadth of India?

Best inputs and suggestions would be sent to the Prime Minister himself and would also be utilized.

According to me, The govt. of India & govt. of all states of India establish a special wing in all govt. civil hospitals as well as it should be compulsory for all govt. doctors, bureaucrats, teachers & professors to do daily practices as well as publicity of yoga. Give subsidy on such things.

Yoga is a complete union of mind, body and soul. It enhances health, happiness and sense of wellbeing in an individual. Everyone should learn it. Dear PM Modiji, I made this Yoga Video- "Yoga for all"(2 parts) few years back. On this International Yoga Day, I dedicate this for the benefit of all. I would be happy if these yoga videos are utilised for the celebration of this day.

Sir, it was good to note the importance given to Yoga in the budget. Though the practice of Yoga is now universal, the variations, especially in foreign countries may not be truly healing. Even in India, there are few recognised, accredited centres. It is time for the government to bring regulatory criteria, more so now, with the facility for tax rebates which may be misused. This will help genuine seekers in India & foreigners to gain comprehensive knowledge & will also aid in tourist inflow.

Yoga and meditation should be made compulsory in the area of Education. It should be practiced daily with the morning assembly so that students will be more focused throughout the day.

My Suggestions would be involve community at large, so that Yoga can be part of every Indian in every-day lives. The idea should be to promote it in a sustainable way that the mark remains throughout the year across the length and breadth of India. To implement it at ground level two bottlenecks needs to be tackled- 1. Create enough people to teach Yoga. 2. Create awareness so that people actually learn Yoga. We are trying to tackle the two bottlenecks through www.sharingdais.com.
