In December 2014 the United Nations declared 21st June as ‘International Day of Yoga’ after 177 nations across all continents of the world co-sponsored a resolution seeking the same.

When the resolution was adopted, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed immense joy on this and said that Yoga has the power to bring the entire humankind together. It may be recalled that the Prime Minister had mooted such an idea during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in September 2014.

You are requested to provide inputs on the following aspects relating to the marking of the first ever ‘International Day of Yoga’.

(1) How can the ‘International Day of Yoga’ be celebrated at the UN forum?

(2) Suggest creative ways in which the ‘International Day of Yoga’ can be celebrated at the world stage.

(3) What are ways in which we can mark the ‘International Day of Yoga’ across the length and breadth of India?

Best inputs and suggestions would be sent to the Prime Minister himself and would also be utilized.

Hon'ble Sir, Most important is to patent Yoga. Let the world know that yoga is not only for the body but benefits the mind and soul if accompanied with vegetarian food, non violent thoughts and a generous heart. Yoga should be developed as a lucrative career in which Sanskrit mantras should play a vital role for enhancing inner peace. Yogic courses should be developed in such a manner that they come in line with MBA, Medical, Civil Services degrees.

I agree with Rohini Manohar , why any Indian Yoga teacher have to take certificate from Yoga Alliance to be declared as competent YOGA teacher, We need institute which can provide such certificates

I think the simplest step is to make a certificate for yoga teachers in India. All yoga teachers in India are certified with Yoga alliance (america) why don't we have an indigenous body that does the same?

It would be great pleasure for our Yogis if the Eight steps of Yoga - Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana & Samadhi - are thought on International Day of Yoga. I would suggest a documentry film be prepared wherein is showed the history of Yoga- the gift given by our Rishis and Saints; as also the need and benefits of Meditation in today's stressful life. This documentry be shown at the UN forum on 21st June.

When the western world embraced with spirit of Yoga, what we can see in India, not providing adequate importance.Even the Sahaja Yoga promoted widely in Toronto area. The power of negates to positive feeling brings minds to re-shapes of reflective nature.Ayurveda ,Yoga like a side of a coin.It must promote world wide with its full integrity. It must project like modern life science nationally and internationally.Power of mind with respect physical state of a human, mind controls even physical side.

I feel the bset way to influence youngsters is to get well known sportsmen & women, film stars who practice yoga and get them to speak in schools all over the country.Sachin Tendulkar,Anil Kumble,Shilpa shetty,Rekha are some of the people who have practiced yoga at some stage of their lives and there are many many regional actors/sports personalities who have been practicing and have realized the benefits.Get such people to become the pilots with the help of other volunteers from VYASA etc.
