In December 2014 the United Nations declared 21st June as ‘International Day of Yoga’ after 177 nations across all continents of the world co-sponsored a resolution seeking the same.

When the resolution was adopted, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed immense joy on this and said that Yoga has the power to bring the entire humankind together. It may be recalled that the Prime Minister had mooted such an idea during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in September 2014.

You are requested to provide inputs on the following aspects relating to the marking of the first ever ‘International Day of Yoga’.

(1) How can the ‘International Day of Yoga’ be celebrated at the UN forum?

(2) Suggest creative ways in which the ‘International Day of Yoga’ can be celebrated at the world stage.

(3) What are ways in which we can mark the ‘International Day of Yoga’ across the length and breadth of India?

Best inputs and suggestions would be sent to the Prime Minister himself and would also be utilized.

Let all the dignitaries of the world come forward to give a POWERFUL message to people round the world and inspire them to Install Yoga in their lives like the way they have installed Facebook... On that auspicious occasion India, being the land of Yogic culture; should incorporate 'Original Astang Yog' to the world by simply providing an 'YogaIndia' app so that people follow the standard Yoga practice, the app may also include various health meters, info on cure to diseases by Yogic practice.

In India and abroad we already have lakhs of Yoga practitioners. We can create a platform where we can make them the ambassadors with a responsibility and a say in the society to utilize infrastructure and promote the ideology of Ram Rajya where the community is one and people have a Right to live a complete and peaceful life. Like the way countries have prayer rooms in offices and public places a meditation room is also required. Let us hope this great ideology spreads in the minds of people.

India being a country of many religions and beliefs we need to present to the world a way of life which is agnostic. Yoga should be presented as a combination of practices excersiced within different religions to make it acceptable in forum like UN. Yogis with different religious beliefs like Hindu, Islam, Cristian, Buddhist and Sikh will present the ideology and practices will have a wholesome impact and will identify India as "Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam" and of "Sanatan Dharma".

Animated mobile app like "YOG WITH MODI" launch करें तो INTERNATIONAL YOG DAY यादगार बन सकता है।

• Start a local yoga conference on July 21st. Follow the model of the international yoga conferences across the world to get a better idea. Intiate local yoga schools to help out. • Have yoga related segments/columns in newspapers, radio, TV, magazines etc… • Start a yoga India magazine. I think this would work really well. Yoga journal is really popular outside India. But having a local yoga magazine or even a e magazine • Mandate yoga lessons in schools colleges corporates

• To raise awareness - have a visual campaign. Have pictures of people in everyday life practicing yoga. Refer to this ( http://ahamyoga.com/gallery/) These pictures were taken in Mysore, Karnataka. I think visuals will really work well to popularize the campaign. • Highlight July 21st across the yoga studios in India. • Start a yoga tourism board. Have real yoga people on the committee as well. I meet so many foreigners who travel to India to study yoga. But they come under the tourism visa

Invite Indian origin or NRIs who are making a difference outside to share their stories and the impact they make with yoga around the world.Have a yoga ambassador. Someone who is given an agenda for him/her to travel in India & maybe a couple of countries and evalute, understand and document the yoga scene. This will help India in the long run. This ambassador need not be a minister or an important official. Pick a local savvy Indian or NRI who can make sometime & is a yoga teacher

• Have a documentary of the origin, transition and major lineages of yoga in India. How it has spread to the world. Since this is the first documentary, please ensure that it educates the world about yoga, its origins and how it started to what it has become. Something that’s short, contemporary and has good content and visuals. Have a qualified ( & practicing ) yoga speaker who talks about the current statistics of yoga practitioners around the world or just India. Have a theme each year.

Respected Modiji- Sir, Bhagawad Gita mentions Yoga and by gifting Bhagawad Gita to all World leaders whom you have met I trust you were showing the importance of both Yoga, Gita and the inter-connection between the two and that both are for everybody. (Some recent history- Apart from Gandhiji, persons like David Ben Gurion, the first Prime Minister of Israel, Turkish Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit both used to read Gita for inspiration).May Yoga and Gita make a better world for all.
