In December 2014 the United Nations declared 21st June as ‘International Day of Yoga’ after 177 nations across all continents of the world co-sponsored a resolution seeking the same.

When the resolution was adopted, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed immense joy on this and said that Yoga has the power to bring the entire humankind together. It may be recalled that the Prime Minister had mooted such an idea during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in September 2014.

You are requested to provide inputs on the following aspects relating to the marking of the first ever ‘International Day of Yoga’.

(1) How can the ‘International Day of Yoga’ be celebrated at the UN forum?

(2) Suggest creative ways in which the ‘International Day of Yoga’ can be celebrated at the world stage.

(3) What are ways in which we can mark the ‘International Day of Yoga’ across the length and breadth of India?

Best inputs and suggestions would be sent to the Prime Minister himself and would also be utilized.

Launch a Yoga TV channel in India and abroad. We must understand why yoga has become popular internationally - because it has been adapted to the local flavour. To mainstream it internationally, it needs to be presented as per the local flavour. It should not be a govt effort as yoga in the present form has been popular thanks to its dynamic character with more thrust on physical well being. It should spread through private initiatives and health workers and not by gurus and swamis.

Purpose of Yoga is to improve Brain and Body. Brian improvement is must to improve body. Therefore, the most effective way to celebrate 1st international yoga day all over world will be to let everyone in the world at one particular time say 12 noon is asked to stop every activity and meditate for 10 minutes thinking how they can improve themselves and their family lives by one single activity. Self improvement will make Brain to function better which will improve body.

Yoga day should not just be a one day program, it should have long term goal &should not be forgotten after few years.1st let us choose an Ambassador from India to represent yoga, someone equivalent to BKS Iyengar. 2nd Every year let us pledge to do something which can welfare ppl through Yoga. Ex: this year can the govt lay foundation stone to National Yoga University? 3.On Yoga Day every year let Govt pick 10 great Yoga personalities they each can teach any yogasan through video conference.

Yoga must be added in school syllabus, because the habit of yoga from that age will become a part of life for new generation. Yoga camps, yoga awareness should be done at "parshad" level, so that the youth participate in max numbers. People knows the benefits of yoga but don't do in their routine, so the encouragement, detail, benefits, relation with humanity must be advertised about yoga.
