In December 2014 the United Nations declared 21st June as ‘International Day of Yoga’ after 177 nations across all continents of the world co-sponsored a resolution seeking the same.

When the resolution was adopted, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed immense joy on this and said that Yoga has the power to bring the entire humankind together. It may be recalled that the Prime Minister had mooted such an idea during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in September 2014.

You are requested to provide inputs on the following aspects relating to the marking of the first ever ‘International Day of Yoga’.

(1) How can the ‘International Day of Yoga’ be celebrated at the UN forum?

(2) Suggest creative ways in which the ‘International Day of Yoga’ can be celebrated at the world stage.

(3) What are ways in which we can mark the ‘International Day of Yoga’ across the length and breadth of India?

Best inputs and suggestions would be sent to the Prime Minister himself and would also be utilized.

Ans to Q.1: Super: THis idea would also make for good TV... IDEA: UN should organise a Yoga camp exclusively for all Heads of state... Imagine Narendra Modi doing Yoga alongside Nawaj Sharif and Obama. For that matter, Israel's PM doing a Surya Namaskar next to the palestinian head of state. The idea here is unless they dont do it for themselves, they will never realise the importance.

Ans to Q.1 and Q.3- A questionnaire should be sent to potential participants about what is their version of What Yoga is, what is their perception of Yoga? The questionnaire should have multiple choice questions... something like how would they like to benefit from Yoga, have they done Yoga before. THis will give the organisers an idea of where do we stand as a nation in terms of what people expect from Yoga

Ans to Q.3: The top most priority should be to book the ground around your building, chawl etc because no matter the format of the programme can be whatever it would include mass participation. This year 21st June falls on a Sunday. So before anybody else books the ground for a cricket match or a marriage please book the ground for celebrating ‘International Day of Yoga’

Ans to Q.3: How Yoga can benefit the pregnant woman. If she actively engages into a Yogic way of Life for those nine months of pregnancy, i am sure, the globe will jumpstart towards the goal of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam'... To be specific, pregnant woman should be made to live separately with other pregnant woman. Following a yogic schedule, from morning to night. Well backed up by a yogic diet. While she stays away from the family, the other members can pay a visit to meet her on and off.

Common answer to all the three questions: There are a lot of myths and misconceptions about Yoga in the society like Yoga means 'asanas' or Yoga means 'Pranayam'... I think... to start with... people have to be evangelized about what is Yoga?

I think as we all do10 min. prayers in our schools before starting classes, in same way our government employees should pay 20 minutes for yoga before they start their works. that will make them energetic and improve their quality of work and life. In this way almost 40 lakhs family (PSU) will be influence at the initiative stage. start it from central police, CRPF, cabinet worker etc...
