In December 2014 the United Nations declared 21st June as ‘International Day of Yoga’ after 177 nations across all continents of the world co-sponsored a resolution seeking the same.

When the resolution was adopted, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed immense joy on this and said that Yoga has the power to bring the entire humankind together. It may be recalled that the Prime Minister had mooted such an idea during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in September 2014.

You are requested to provide inputs on the following aspects relating to the marking of the first ever ‘International Day of Yoga’.

(1) How can the ‘International Day of Yoga’ be celebrated at the UN forum?

(2) Suggest creative ways in which the ‘International Day of Yoga’ can be celebrated at the world stage.

(3) What are ways in which we can mark the ‘International Day of Yoga’ across the length and breadth of India?

Best inputs and suggestions would be sent to the Prime Minister himself and would also be utilized.

We should not first of all try to present yoga as a mere acrobat at the world stage. Yoga begins where acrobat ends. It will be best if you can prove it with examples that Yoga is a SCIENCE. westerners believe in science.they accept science with ease. you should also focus on that 'one-gift' that India would give away to the world with respect to Yoga. for example even if we explain the vastness of this science , how can a common lay man begin yoga in his daily life ,"a capsule of 3-4 asanas".

Send a message strongly that Yogic pratices are not Hindu, but for the world. People saying Yoga is Hinduism, is similar to say Theory of relativity is German, Gravity is Jewish. Yogic practises might have been mastered by the people of this land, but it belongs to the world

Speech on what is Yoga by "Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev" the founder of ISHA foundation would address what is Yoga to the world. According to me there are many Gurus today who are great. But this person thought I haven't received Diksha from him, understand he is the greatest Living Guru of this Era! Reach out to him if you would like Yogic practices to be truly understood to the depth of it

"Yoga has the power to bring the entire humankind together" This is very much true and i believe we must have proper institute to learn Yoga so that we can be certified trainers of it which will help us to spread proper and useful awareness to mass. And on top of it trainers can get volunteer, part time or full time jobs in schools and offices to conduct Yoga sessions and fulfill the purpose of spreading awareness :)

Yoga is a way of life. It is neither a one-day affair nor is it a business. It should be part of our daily life.... the way we think, act and feel. Asanas and other practices help in this process. They help to delve deep inside you. So far in my experience i find Bihar school of Yoga the best - Satyananda Saraswathi swamiji has started the Satyananda yoga centres all over and the trained teachers out there are very knowledgeable and skilled. Go on and try.. Hari OM !

To introduce yoga to the world we have to tell them how it originated from india and it should be demonstrated worldwide through the leading channels what wonders it can do to our body and mind and what these asanas really mean to us.Along with that we can prove the scientific effect of these asanas along with the recitation of our gayatri mantra and aum.
