In December 2014 the United Nations declared 21st June as ‘International Day of Yoga’ after 177 nations across all continents of the world co-sponsored a resolution seeking the same.

When the resolution was adopted, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed immense joy on this and said that Yoga has the power to bring the entire humankind together. It may be recalled that the Prime Minister had mooted such an idea during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in September 2014.

You are requested to provide inputs on the following aspects relating to the marking of the first ever ‘International Day of Yoga’.

(1) How can the ‘International Day of Yoga’ be celebrated at the UN forum?

(2) Suggest creative ways in which the ‘International Day of Yoga’ can be celebrated at the world stage.

(3) What are ways in which we can mark the ‘International Day of Yoga’ across the length and breadth of India?

Best inputs and suggestions would be sent to the Prime Minister himself and would also be utilized.

We have to appoint a team of certified yoga professionals in every Indian high commission in every country and teach and promote yoga and meditation to that country people. This will increase foreign revenue and the foreigners who are coming to India for yoga practise can easily learn in their home country, this will also create good job for yoga teachers. Along with yoga we can also promote Kerala massage therapies. It will be a big revenue if we promote thorough Indian high commissions abroad.

On the international day of yoga - we can launch a website which has different yogasanas video with proper explanation as to when we have to hold breath, when to release breath etc. India being the founder of yoga should be the first country to launch a website specially for yoga. Also in addition we can have a yoga class in schools.

I am a proud Indian that the UN declared 21 June as World Yoga Day following our PM' s effort. That day happens to be the longest day of the year. We can highlight the enormous benefits of yoga by mass media & Yoga Shibir by experts inside & outside India. Yoga promotes healthy body & mind.. 30 minutes of yoga a day may keep the doctor away. Yoga also channelises the energy towards positive thinking. A national award can be instituted for outstanding work to be given on the World Yoga Day.
