India is one of the leaders in sustainable development and clean energy. With the Hon PM Narendra Modi-led government’s reform-oriented, environment-friendly policies, the country has time & again shown that sound environmental policies can pave the way to a sound economy.

At the UN Climate Change Conference COP26 in 2021, PM Shri Narendra Modi announced the ‘LiFE’, a mission to bring individual behavioural change at the forefront of the global climate action narrative. LIFE or Lifestyle for Environment along with the ‘Pro Planet People’ movement, aims to strengthen the efforts to overcome climate change.

LiFE will replace the prevailing 'use-and-throw’ thinking with an environmentally conscious lifestyle. The Mission is to create a global community of ‘Pro-Planet People’ (P3), who with their shared commitment will adopt and promote environmentally friendly lifestyles.

Individual Efforts Are Key to Climate Commitment

India's traditional knowledge strongly positions it to lead the narrative of addressing climate change. Like many other mass movements, LiFE aims to inspire climate action based on the mantra of ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas’.

MyGov invites you to share your ideas and suggestions on how to adapt to an environmentally conscious lifestyle.

1. Reduce
2. Reuse
3. Recycle
4. Renewable
5. Recover
6. Re-design
7. Re-manufacture

Few examples for the above:
Reduce - Electricity, Fuel Usage
Reuse - Old Clothes, Electronics, Building materials, furniture
Recycle - Plastic, newspapers, cartons, boxes
Renewable - Solar, Wind, Hydro, Tidal, Geothermal & Biomass
Recover - Forests, rivers, soil, mountains, wildlife
Redesign - Green buildings
Remanufacture - E-waste for new purposes

Our civilisational values have taught us the importance of living in harmony with nature. Today, let’s come together to protect our environment & take forward Mission LiFE - Lifestyle for Environment.

Saving our planet, lifting people out of poverty, advancing economic growth… these are one and the same fight. We must connect the dots between climate change, water scarcity, energy shortages, global health, food security and women’s empowerment. Solutions to one problem must be solutions for all.

Now more than ever, our planet needs us to step up and take action towards cleaning up many of the messes we have made through irresponsibility. Whether it be from oil spills, air pollution, plastics, or toxic chemicals leaking into our water, there is still a lot that must be done to bring our ecosystem back into balance. Environmental justice for one and all should be our core mission. Unfortunately, because so many people are living in survival mode, the importance of our environment has taken a back seat while most focus on their food and shelter needs. It’s unfortunate that only a film that reflects the severity of our problem through fear of annihilation is what brings the importance of our environment to the forefront of our communities psyche.

Save the green & blue before our future generation has to paint everything black. What’s good for your health? Pizza, Netflix Series, or new clothes? Nothing is better for your health than a clean environment!

In order to facilitate better environment conservation, we must reduce the use of plastic, promote sustainable fashion clothing and plant more trees.

Save trees and do not let them become a thing of the past, or their leaves will only be seen in museums. If the present generation cuts down trees, their children will have to pay the fees.

LiFE, the mission introduced by our honourable Prime Minister in order to promote environment growth and its sustainability comprises of various aspects of our environment. To start with my concern of forests and animals residing in those forests, my first suggestion would be to stop tour of national parks and sanctury and impose punishment for performing wrong. In order to visit the places for some selfies in order to post on social media, people are widely degrading the conditions of environment by polluting it. It also harm animals and scares them to roam around freely. Since Swatch Bharat Abhiyan was launched back ago but people don't implement it till date also. As the mindset what indians possess, till sanction or punishment would not be opposed. My suggestion is to stop entry of people at these places and let animals be safe in their home. Only forest officials should be allowed to enter for their routine work of protecting, feeding and providing safe environment to live.

Helping farmers go organic Gaining organic certification can be costly and lengthy progress for small farmers. To address this, the ‘farmer under agroecological transition’ certification was created. The municipality purchases produce from farmers certified under this scheme at 30% above market value which helps to incentivize their transition to organic, regenerative practices. Government can use funds from tax returns to help farmers.
