India is one of the leaders in sustainable development and clean energy. With the Hon PM Narendra Modi-led government’s reform-oriented, environment-friendly policies, the country has time & again shown that sound environmental policies can pave the way to a sound economy.

At the UN Climate Change Conference COP26 in 2021, PM Shri Narendra Modi announced the ‘LiFE’, a mission to bring individual behavioural change at the forefront of the global climate action narrative. LIFE or Lifestyle for Environment along with the ‘Pro Planet People’ movement, aims to strengthen the efforts to overcome climate change.

LiFE will replace the prevailing 'use-and-throw’ thinking with an environmentally conscious lifestyle. The Mission is to create a global community of ‘Pro-Planet People’ (P3), who with their shared commitment will adopt and promote environmentally friendly lifestyles.

Individual Efforts Are Key to Climate Commitment

India's traditional knowledge strongly positions it to lead the narrative of addressing climate change. Like many other mass movements, LiFE aims to inspire climate action based on the mantra of ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas’.

MyGov invites you to share your ideas and suggestions on how to adapt to an environmentally conscious lifestyle.

1. Reduce
2. Reuse
3. Recycle
4. Renewable
5. Recover
6. Re-design
7. Re-manufacture

Few examples for the above:
Reduce - Electricity, Fuel Usage
Reuse - Old Clothes, Electronics, Building materials, furniture
Recycle - Plastic, newspapers, cartons, boxes
Renewable - Solar, Wind, Hydro, Tidal, Geothermal & Biomass
Recover - Forests, rivers, soil, mountains, wildlife
Redesign - Green buildings
Remanufacture - E-waste for new purposes

Our civilisational values have taught us the importance of living in harmony with nature. Today, let’s come together to protect our environment & take forward Mission LiFE - Lifestyle for Environment.

Namaste! There are a number of things suggested for a sustainable life . Initially, were taught as little children about 3 R's.It slowly grew to 5R's and now it seems to have become 7R's. In my humble opinion, we have to unlearn all the novel , non- sustainable practices that we have so mindlessly incorporated in our lives and slowly but surely adopt sustainable practices handed down to us from our own past. This is an easy, sure way to understand , imbibe and correct ourselves so that we leave behind a better world for generations to come.We do not have to depend on 3R, 5R, 7R...endless series to teach us what needs to be done.

cities are becoming more and more congusted and it expands in circular direction it creates traffic jam and also it leads to use of individual Vehicle instad of mass transportation System. It also leads to more and more overbridges. A certain limitation Should be fixed on city limit and above this limit green Zone Should be made compulsory. And cities should be allowed to expand in linear direction instead of circalar direction. It will help to increas use ot mass trasportation System Such as metro rail. Beyond the limit of green zones atelite cities in a way of gift city can be developed. Vertical development of cities Should be encouraged instead of Horizontal development. It will help to Save furtile forest and AgreCultural land. even urban forest Can also be developed on Such lands. A Holistic Land use policy for States instead of cities should be implemented. Convergence of Agriculture Land to non agreculture land Should be discouraged around metro cities. But more FSI be alloud

To end plastic carry bags pollution every citizen should take a pledge that they will carry their own cloth bag and will not carry plastic carry bag during shopping. Government should strictly enforce the ban on plastic carry bags. Like the voice message given in phone during Covid pandemic a message insisting citizens to avoid using plastic carry bags can be given to create an awareness. A big size wired net can be put near canals and lakes to collect the plastic wastes. Each village and city should have an advanced Recycling Units to segregate the plastic waste and dispose them safely. Reward points can be given to those who deposits the plastic wastes. They can redeem the Points with free mobile data, talk time, buy any mobile gadgets, power banks etc. This will encourage everyone to dispose the plastic properly instead of throwing them on the streets. Reward Points should be given based on the quantity of plastic wastes they deposit at the collection centers. This will work out.
