India is one of the leaders in sustainable development and clean energy. With the Hon PM Narendra Modi-led government’s reform-oriented, environment-friendly policies, the country has time & again shown that sound environmental policies can pave the way to a sound economy.

At the UN Climate Change Conference COP26 in 2021, PM Shri Narendra Modi announced the ‘LiFE’, a mission to bring individual behavioural change at the forefront of the global climate action narrative. LIFE or Lifestyle for Environment along with the ‘Pro Planet People’ movement, aims to strengthen the efforts to overcome climate change.

LiFE will replace the prevailing 'use-and-throw’ thinking with an environmentally conscious lifestyle. The Mission is to create a global community of ‘Pro-Planet People’ (P3), who with their shared commitment will adopt and promote environmentally friendly lifestyles.

Individual Efforts Are Key to Climate Commitment

India's traditional knowledge strongly positions it to lead the narrative of addressing climate change. Like many other mass movements, LiFE aims to inspire climate action based on the mantra of ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas’.

MyGov invites you to share your ideas and suggestions on how to adapt to an environmentally conscious lifestyle.

1. Reduce
2. Reuse
3. Recycle
4. Renewable
5. Recover
6. Re-design
7. Re-manufacture

Few examples for the above:
Reduce - Electricity, Fuel Usage
Reuse - Old Clothes, Electronics, Building materials, furniture
Recycle - Plastic, newspapers, cartons, boxes
Renewable - Solar, Wind, Hydro, Tidal, Geothermal & Biomass
Recover - Forests, rivers, soil, mountains, wildlife
Redesign - Green buildings
Remanufacture - E-waste for new purposes

Our civilisational values have taught us the importance of living in harmony with nature. Today, let’s come together to protect our environment & take forward Mission LiFE - Lifestyle for Environment.

We can be more conscious about reducing pollution, protecting wildlife, conserving natural resources and take other actions that can help slow the rate of climate change. We need to reduce the amount of trash we create, and to reuse or repurpose consumer goods rather than throwing them away. A good way would be to start with conserving water, driving less and walking more, consuming less energy, buying recycled products, eating locally grown vegetables, creating less waste, planting more trees, etc… Recycling conserves natural resources, reduces pollution and saves energy, mainly glass, paper, metal and plastic. Give your used clothing, appliances, and furniture to Goodwill. LED lights use 75% less energy to deliver the same amount of light as incandescent, and LED bulbs last 25 times longer.

Hi! I am a returning Indian from USA after living outside India for 15 years. My idea is to introduce simple mechanical shredders to convert the dry leaves, broken branches and dry trees, coconut shells, and roadside wood and plant remains into MULCH. Mulch can be used as a top layer on Soil (at homes, gardens, public areas, road dividers). This will retain soil moisture, save soil erosion and minimize dust and pollution. Mulch is widely used and sold in USA and is very popular. I have used it regularly in my gardens and I highly recommend it to be more widely used in India. This is a simple idea with wide impact. This is very my in lines with sadhguru’s save soul mission.

I would like to share my simple yet effective lifestyle change I started following. Recently we got a Earthen Pot from a neighbour and storing water in it and consuming. Water is good and it's cool. Pot water reduces the dependence on cold water stored in refrigerators.

Namaste Honourable Modiji I just returned from my maiden visit from Rishikesh and it was such a great feeling and rejuvenating experience to see, feel and have a holy dip in the Ganges. As i walked along various ghats, many had plastic water bottles, chips and chocolate wrapper thrown everywhere which eventually made it's way to the Ganges and thereby contributing to it's pollution( since there was no dustbin anywhere along the length and breadth of the ghats) So my humble suggestion is to provide DUSTBINS along the ghats so that Ganga ma can be saved from plastic and pollution.
