Dear Prime Minister, Once a person has retired from service at the age of 60yrs and his monthly salary stops, he invests all his retirement benefits into Fixed Deposits in Banks, Post Office & other Financial Institutions and lives his retired life on the interest earned from his savings. At the time of depositing these amounts - the Banks, Post Office and Financial Institutions ask for the "Source of Funds" and the Retired Employee has to submit proof - that the amount is from Retirement Benefits & his Savings. These amounts saved from Salary over a period of 30-40 years of Working life, is already Taxed by way of TDS from the Salary -by Government by way of Income Tax and returns have to be filed by the employee every year. It is hence not understood why a Retired Employee who has no Salary Income, is being again Taxed for the Interest earned from FD, during his last few years of life on this earth.
