India is blessed with numerous natural waterfalls, especially in regions like the Western Ghats, the Himalayas, and the Northeast, which hold great potential for generating clean and renewable electricity through micro and mini hydropower projects. For example, Jog Falls in Karnataka and the waterfalls in Uttarakhand and Sikkim have untapped potential for run-of-the-river hydroelectricity, which is a cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and sustainable solution requiring minimal infrastructure and causing little ecological disruption. By promoting and supporting small-scale hydro projects near waterfalls, the government can provide reliable power to remote and hilly areas, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and create local employment opportunities. I urge the government to prioritize the development of micro-hydro power from natural waterfalls, streamline regulatory approvals, and offer incentives to encourage community and private sector participation in this green energy initi

India need the more quality power demand with sustainable energy sources thus the hydro potential may be seen with the full inflow capacity of the river must be considered. The necessary revision in the issued guidelines may be seen on priority basis, so that the higher capacity of hydro units may be considered.
This also help out India to achieve higher capacity of hydro units design aspects with less resources with innovative approach.
With regards,
Thanks

As per the availability of the water inflow in Chenab river the existing Salal Power Station at Reasi Distt of 690MW capacity may be converted to get more power output may be 4-5-GW at the existing location by enhancing the dam height.
There is availability of space existing at rockfill dam for placing new hydro units and also having potential with converting the station to pump storage capacity partially, so that during lean season the generation may be enhanced by putting another dam barrage near Talwada location.
The Power potential availability may be reviewed as per the new innovative approach of AI to use the full water availability of the Chenab river.
