At present in India, it is observed that whenever a political party secures a large majority in elections, opposition parties both regional and national often allege EVM tampering by the ruling government. Under the leadership of the Hon’ble P.M., Bharath is making remarkable progress in various technologies and computer systems. In this context, it is my view that if technology is effectively utilized during elections, the process can become more transparent and reliable. If voter details are linked with Aadhaar and voter ID, and authentication during voting is enabled through IRIS/BIOMETRIC verification along with OTP sent to the voter’s registered mobile phone, it could help prevent bogus voting, the import of voters from other states, and the creation of fake voter IDs. Such a system would also minimize misuse by unauthorized individuals, including those from neighboring countries. This issue may be addressed in “Mann Ki Baat” to seek public opinion.
