Prime Minister Narendra Modi has frequently spoken about Punjab farmers, highlighting a mix of praise for their agricultural contribution and concerns regarding farming practices, as well as providing relief during crises.
Here are key aspects of his stance and actions:
Support & Relief (2025-2026): In September 2025, during a visit to flood-affected areas in Punjab, the PM reviewed damage from floods and announced significant relief, including strengthening flood prevention structures and supporting farmers whose crops were destroyed. As of April 2026, the central government approved relaxed wheat procurement norms to help Punjab farmers sell crops affected by unexpected rain at Minimum Support Price (MSP).
Praise for Crop Diversification & Stubble Management:

Respected Modi ji,
One major problem we face in Jammu is the lack of reliable public transport during peak hours. Buses run at low frequency and are usually overcrowded, forcing students and working people to depend on expensive app-based cabs like Uber, which are also hard to find when needed most. This causes daily delays and even affects emergency services stuck in traffic. To improve this, we request you to increase the number of city buses during morning and evening hours, introduce app-based bus tracking, create fixed pick-up zones for cabs to reduce roadside congestion, and promote e-rickshaws for last-mile connectivity. These steps will make travel safer, faster, and more affordable for everyone.
