Dear Honorable Prime Minister Modi, Ayushman Bharat is an excellent initiative, but many middle-class families with pre-existing conditions are ineligible for it and struggle to get health insurance from private companies. I am one of those individuals. In 2021, I was hospitalized, and though my company’s insurance covered 90% of the bill, the remaining 10% was a significant burden. Since then, I’ve realized the importance of health insurance. Unfortunately, private insurers have rejected my health insurance proposals due to pre-existing conditions. I kindly request you to introduce a new scheme for people like us, where the government can charge premiums similar to private companies. This would reduce the financial burden on both citizens and the government, while offering coverage from ₹5 to ₹25 lakhs per family, addressing today’s high healthcare costs.
