Respected PM Sir, India’s polio eradication was a proud milestone achieved through the tireless efforts of National Polio Surveillance Project. Since then this workforce has continued to strengthen the immunisation program, diseases surveillance and even COVID support through its field presence and microplanning expertise. We are concerned about accelerated phase out of NPSP unit within 2 years. State health systems are not yet fully prepared to absorb these functions. Hurried transition risks weakening of immunisation and polio rounds leading to increase in childhood mortality and polio reimportation for neighbouring countries. We humbly request your guidance to ensure careful transition by establishing national task force, extending timelines till states build their capacity and integrating the skilled NPSP workforce into National health system. This will safeguard our polio free status, achieve Measles rubella elimination and further decrease childhood mortality.From Polio warriors
