The Municipal Corporation Karnal is pleased to inform you that our city has been selected under 100 Smart City Mission under the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD). In Round 3, our city has to compete with 37 other cities, enhance our proposal and become eligible for funding in 2017-18. We urge you to share your ideas, Sugestions, comments and be an integral part of the journey towards making Karnal a smart city!
Retrofitting:
Retrofitting will introduce planning in an existing built-up area to achieve Smart City objectives, along with other objectives, to make the existing area more efficient and livable. The essential features will be assured electricity supply with at least 10% of the Smart City's energy requirement coming from solar, adequate water supply including waste water recycling smart metering, robust IT connectivity, pedestrian friendly pathways, encouragement to non-motorized transport,non-vehicle streets/zones.
Greenfield:
Green Field development will introduce most of the Smart Solutions in a previously vacant area (more than 250 acres) using innovative planning, plan financing and plan implementation tools (e.g. land pooling/land reconstitution) with provision for affordable housing.
Redevelopment:
Redevelopment envisages an area of more than 50 acres in consultation with citizens under which a replacement of the existing built-up environment and enable co-creation of a new layout with enhanced infrastructure using mixed land use and increased density (higher FSI and high ground coverage).
