To address the growing concerns in the present Accreditation and Ranking systems of the Government of India had constituted a High-Level Committee. This Committee considered the introduction of strategic reforms consistent with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020 and the need for adopting a simple, trust-based, objective and rationalized system for approval, accreditation and ranking of Higher Educational Institutions with a verifiable and secured centralised database through technology-driven modern systems. Methodologies for facilitating Ease of Doing Business for the stakeholders, duly facilitating students in making more informed choices for selection of institutions/ programmes were also considered by the Committee.

After a series of deliberations, a High-Level Committee has submitted its draft Report on ‘Transformative Reforms for Strengthening Periodic Assessment and Accreditation of All Higher Educational Institutions in India’ to the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India.

In light of this, MyGov, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, seeks feedback and suggestions from all the stakeholders for the finalisation of the report.

This report has now been placed in the public domain until 15th July 2023.

There is lot of corruption in this system also. It is obvious that private colleges purchase NAAC and other higher education rankings. Public institutions lag in these rankings because they cannot pay bribes. Case in point are many new private universities who have better ratings than century old public institutions. No brainer what actually works

In my view , the strengthening for periodic Assessment & Accredition of all Higher Educational Institutions should be based on the innovative approach adopted by the HEI and the skill level and capability of the passed out students in the Society in terms of contribution to the economy of the country. The education imparted should be more directional towards the current need of the skills , education and technology in place. There should be a common assessment parameter uniform in nature to assess the HEI in terms of branding and for playing an important role in nurturing the students to be successful and ensuring their capability. There should be a nodal apex body comprising representation from bureaucracy, industry , Government and Society for drawing out policy and implementation and monitoring the HEI and the culinary approach they adopt for periodic assessment and Accreditation. The opinion given is notwithstanding any counter opinions in this regard

MYGOV ITS GOOD TO KNOW REFORMS ARE DONE AND OUR SUGGESTIONS ARE CONSIDERED. THANK YOU.HAVING SAID THAT I WOULD LIKE TO BRING OUT A POINT THAT A VAST SYLLABUS OR BROAD LONG DESCRIPTION OF TOPICS IS UNINFORMATIVE. PRECISE LEARNING, PRACTICAL TEACHING WHICH HELPS IN THE LONG RUN, SELF SUSTAINABLE FUTURE CREATION AND VAST THINKING ABILITIES CAN BRING ABOUT SOME CHANGE THE WAY WE REPRESENT IN OTHER COUNTRIES AND BE NOT COMPLETELY DEPENDENT ON THIS SYSTEM OF EMPLOYMENT.

Suggestions for strengthening periodic assessment and accreditation of higher educational institutions: streamline process, adopt transparent criteria, use technology-driven systems, conduct periodic reviews, engage stakeholders, incentivize quality, benchmark internationally, focus on employability, invest in capacity building, establish feedback mechanism. These reforms will enhance assessment, ensure quality education, foster innovation, and prepare students for the future.
