The outbreak of the global pandemic COVID -19 presents a challenging time for everyone around the world. Not only is this pandemic a serious medical concern, but it also brings mixed emotions and psycho-social stressors for all. There are emerging mental health concerns with specific focus on Children, Adolescents and Youth as they more vulnerable to heightened level of stress, anxiety and fearfulness, along with a range of other emotional and behavioral issues. COVID-19 has also brought new stressors on Teachers and Parents hampering their capacity to provide positive support to their wards. While it is important to focus on continuing education on the academic front, we must give equal importance to the mental health and well-being of the students.

Manodarpan, an initiative of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, under the AatmaNirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, aims at mobilizing psycho-social support to help Children, Youth, Teachers and Parents country-wide in a comprehensive and multimodal manner during conditions like COVID-19 and after. For more information, please visit www.mhrd.gov.in/covid-19/

MyGov in collaboration with the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, hereby invites citizens to share ideas and inputs to combat the psycho-social stress on School & College Students, Teachers and Parents, caused due to COVID-19 pandemic. Selected comments may be featured on social media.

Last date of sending us your inputs is 21st August 2020

Pranams. Valuation must be done by external teacher while conducting online Exams. Because some students may have misunderstanding with teachers due to aging behaviours. It should be eliminated by proper counselling only and not in marks. It'll also reduce the stress of students in this pandemic situation. Bharat Mata ki jai. jai hind

In this Covid time, we can spare valuable time with our kids to shape up along with the multi-modal developmental scheme like story telling and narration, some easy science practical, crafting and designing, Singing-dancing, drawing and painting and so on. This will keep the child abstain from same type of work or exposure like watching the mobile or TV.

Let us normalise the fact that crying is alright. Children from a very young age should be taught the same. There should be a separate class conducted every week in every school to discuss about the common problems everyone faces in life (especially the emotions they feel) so that they can come and share with everyone. Listening to relaxing and calming instrumental music should be done at the start of the day.

A warm water bath in the night releases the stress in your muscles. A good nutritious diet is essential along with a good night sleep. Don't stress out of the situation going on , everyone is sailing in the same boat. So loosen up .

Perform pranayam and meditation for 15 minutes each twice a day and exercise in the form of yoga, dance, suryanamaskar, etc for half an hour twice a day. Exercises and physical workouts are a great stress buster for those having sedentary jobs. It releases endorphins in your system. At night , give a nice warm head massage and to your face as well , this will release your tension in facial muscles. After staying hours before your screen , take a steam . Listen to mild music or read good book.
