It is definitely a responsibility of the private sector to come forward and help the Govt. of India in building the nation in regard to academics and research, which form backbone of a country. Here, they should have entrepreneur mind-set but without thinking of any kind of profit for the parent company. They need to come forward and organize meetings with central institutes frequently and engage actively in research activities in public sector set-ups.

Corporate participation and funding can render significant impetus to "Swachh Bharat" campaign. A model of incentivizing Corporate through Tax Benefit can propel them to invest and participate to a scale far beyond their CSR activities. Similarly, individual citizens can recognized and rewarded through benefits in municipal taxes / utility bills to make the movement more compelling. A model can be defined to recognize a ward / residential complex for the activities undertaken.

Quite often, economically correct decisions are delayed because of concerns of adverse public perceptions. But this can be partially overcome if the outcome of each such decision is quantified in terms of the number of JOBS that decision will create (eg. any PPP project, modification of Land Bill, Coal Bill, Insurance bill). Emphasis should be made to create a perception that Govt. deals with corporates because of the jobs they create and the wealth created by them is incidental.

Government should support private companies who are COMMITTED to build the nation. If not, priority will be given to Co-operative sector with good professional and modern governance. ( Example AMUL, Uralungal Labour Contract Co-operative etc ).

Partnership with private sector is a good concept. But in our experience so far, indian private companies were trying to loot the public by providing substandard products for global price/rate. It is visible in the telecom sector ( mobile, Internet etc), Infrastructure ( quality of the construction of roads, buildings etc ). There should be proper audit ( by public as well as regulatory bodies) to ensure that the product quality / Service quality matches the global benchmark.
