With the GST coming into effect from 1st July, 2017, the biggest indirect tax reform of independent India, is going to transform the way indirect tax is administered in this country, impacting not just businesses but also the common man. GST is a tax on consumption of goods and services, which is levied at all stages right from manufacturing up to final consumption, with credit of taxes paid at previous stages available as setoff. It is going to remove the tax-on-tax effect through separate Central and State tax laws. In a nutshell, under GST, only value addition will be taxed , hence, reducing the burden of tax to be borne by the final consumer.

The most fundamental change in GST besides the consolidation of multiple taxes, is the use of a robust shared IT infrastructure in its operations. All the forms related to registrations, filing returns and other related activities can now be done through the GSTN Portal.

GST will help build an economically stronger India, with 'One Nation, One Tax, One Market.'

I am okay with all the reforms of the Govt. Please note that the Govt officials and their method of working needs to be taken up on priority. They need to be made accountable and answerable. We are suffering due to lack of accountability on the part of the staff of the Govt. this results in huge corruption.

SIR, WHAT WAS THE ACTUAL COST OF PRODUCTION AND SALES AFTER THE VARIOUS TAXES NOT KNOWN TO CUSTOMER IN MANY CASES,AND WHAT IS THE EFFECT OF GST ON AN ITEM AFTER GST. MANY RESTAURANTS HAVE INCREASED ACTUAL COST OF AN ITEM AND CHARGE MORE WITH GST , IS THERE ANY AGENCY TO SUPERVISE SUCH RATES BEFORE AND AFTER GST. FIXING OF COST IS MAINLY WITH THE PRODUCER AND NOT WITH ANY OTHER'S HAND DEPENDING UPON DEMAND

sir, good reform, but a mutual fund distributor of Maharashtra has to pay no tax up to 20 lakhs per annual earning of commission, because all mutual fund have their head office at Mumbai, while distributors belongs to other states have to pay 18% even atone lakh comission per annum. This is against equqlity.

Working hands on gst.gov.in is not explained any where. I am qualified and wish to operate the site myself without the help of service provider. There is no example of data entry onto site, correcting the mistake etc. If I feel apprehensive, I can feel what others who are not so computer friendly would feel about system

There is no link available to upload individual invoices on gst.gov.in at present(which it is said would auto populate GST-1). Is the tax collected by customers to be deposited after 20th of next month after adjustment of ITC?
