Poor science and maths education (and English) accounts for 80 per cent of total students who fail in Tenth Board Examination. The low enrolment in science stream at higher secondary level and poor-quality education is a constraint in development of scientific manpower in the country. Science and Maths education would need special attention. We need to deliberate and find workable strategies for strengthening the quality of teaching–learning processes for better outcomes; innovations and diversity of approaches in matters of curricula, pedagogies and use of technology to improve the learning levels.

when you read/write, you learn a little. when you memorize, you puts your learning in dustbin. Only when you do and share your ideas, you learn something. When you try implement your idea, you learn more. When you do this many times even you fail each time, you learn more and more. You will be a creative and problem solver and good contributor for development of our country.

While new methods must surely be adopted and teachers given hands on training during their B.Ed. courses etc. teacher's basic fundamental knowledge must also be strengthened. Teaching is a mix of mastery of subject and effective, democratic teaching methods.

Teachers should have up to date knowledge of his field. For example, a professor of physics should give example of India’s Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) and use of gravitational force technology at the time of teaching gravity to students. Education should be based on practical and application oriented instead of only theory.
