Eat a variety of vegetables, especially dark green, red, and orange vegetables (3 or more servings a day). Eat a variety of fruits (2 or more servings a day). Eat whole-grain, high-fiber breads and cereals (3 to 6 servings a day). Reduce or eliminate refined or processed carbohydrates; most of the grains in your diet should be whole grains. Drink fat-free or low-fat milk and eat low-fat dairy products.

Shorter food supply chains with locally available nutrition products blended with fruits and vegetables needs to be promoted. Our partnership model at www.farmersasowners.org practiced this http://partnershipbrokers.org/w/journal/brokering-shorter-food-supply-chains-2/ as cross sectors collaboration https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10551-020-04714-y

There are plenty of plant foods that are good sources along with fortified breakfast cereals, muesli, wholemeal bread and pumpkin and sunflower seeds. Enjoy any of these with a small glass of fruit juice, rich in vitamin C, to optimise your body’s iron uptake. For those who avoid dairy, like milk and yogurt, choose an alternative that is fortified with vitamins and minerals, including vitamin B12, vitamin D and calcium.

Adults should eat at least five portions (400g) of fruit and vegetables per day. You can improve your intake of fruits and vegetables by always including veggies in your meal; eating fresh fruit and vegetables as snacks; eating a variety of fruits and vegetables; and eating them in season.
