A multi-lingual society recognises the importance of education in languages. While there are some interventions for appointment of language teachers and promotion of classical languages, there is no comprehensive scheme or language policy and we need to have inputs on this dimension.

I will keep it in bullets # All languages must be given equal importance and thrust and students should have a choice to choose the languages. # Library facility with adequate volumes of academic and general reading stuffs is a must. # Up till graduation students must get have an oppurtune to learn science subject in their respective mother tongue, however they must be made well versed in English. # Learning language and understand concepts must not be convoluted and made mazy !!

It is very important for our students to know English and Hindi. However, we live in times when the world is a global village. We encourage our youngsters to spread their wings. Hence a student must be given the opportunity to learn a foreign language of his choice. It is unfair to thrust a regional language or Sanskrit on him. Let us not confine our children in boxes of bygone years, let us open their avenues to embrace a developing world. He has the right to learn any language that he chooses!

Under languages, more focus should be given on learning practically rather then only for examination. More text books means more theory, & lack in speaking & writing.

A Language policy should be adopted in which mini-migration & short term training in other countries should be arrange to promote language as well as cultural. Travelling to the concerned area of which language is taught or to be taught can boost the interest & encourage to learn more.

language Teachers should be send for training to other countries i.e. English teacher to Cambridge, Chinese teacher to China for 8-10 days for training as they will see the environment how foreign countries are making their own language easy students. It would definitely increase the interest of teacher as well as students if they will find some different ways other then ancient methods of teaching.

While I agree that it is important for students to know their National language and mother tongue, I do not think any language should be forced upon a student. Also, keeping in mind the need of the present times, the students should be allowed and encouraged to learn foreign languages if they so desire. Many developped countries all over the world encourage their students to learn Foreign languages so that they can become global citizens.

Mother tongue is the best medium of instruction till primary and higher primary classes. Except countries where britishers ruled, all other countries teach their kids in Mother Tongue only including Higher education. Request you to arrange for providing incentives to students for studying in mother tongue and also create employment opportunities once they complete their graduation/studies. Almost all european countries including russia, germany, france offer education in local language.

While the regional languages are important for all the citizens, it is more important for the coming generations to stay unified. Language being one of the most critical binding factor for human beings, I think one language must be made compulsory across the nation along with the regional languages to foster unity in diversity completely.
