With globalization and liberalization of Indian Economy in last two decades, numerous domestic and international companies have been drawn to investing in new modes of business/ business models targeted at the huge domestic market especially in the consumer goods & services. Direct Selling is one of these modes where goods /services are sold directly by the producer/service provider to the consumers. For this different models such as Multi Level/Network marketing, Door to Door Selling, Online Selling, Tele-shopping are being used. These practices are new and different from traditional retail through shops. In the absence of a proper regulatory framework, retail through these models leads to consumer grievances, trader’s issues, slow growth of the sector etc.

The aim of this discussion is to deliberate and evolve views of all stakeholders for providing a regulatory framework to the sector.

Any job or business is not suitable to all. In this case direct marketing / network marketing is not exception. My strong feeling is that direct selling people should not tell lies should not use trics to mesmorize people. There should be option to common man to accept or reject the offer. I feel the option is myth in india today in case of some companies. Which people are able to realize only after involving and losing a lot.

How much observation govt is having on direct selling companies. some companies DIRECT KILLING instead of DIRECT SELLING by using their trics. Return policy is worst in direct selling companies. One Malaysian company is selling products through franchisee in India. They are not even giving product to consumer even after 60, 90 days and even after that. what is the product exact company price God only knows. I would appeal govt look into this.

Without govt regularization on direct selling/network marketing always innocent people are losers and families are facing maximum risk in their life. I would request govt to bring all kind of guidelines and see to benefit common man rather than only company. Of course company benefit also equally important. Now Only companies and few people are benefiting. But many people are suffering at maximum, which I can't in words. Only when someone go through the pain only can understand.

In Traditional business product sold at MRP.In direct selling the product sold at atleast 10 times higher than the product available in open market.Open market price fixed on the basis of production cost+advt+transport+distributor+retailer and then consumer. In direct marketing Product cost+high margin to company+multiple levels margins(uplines margins some times more than 20 levels) and than the product goes to end user. Here the money going to multiple uplines is very high.Govt should regularise

Direct Selling is the industry that could solve the un employment and increase the per capita income of India. Direct selling is one which rewards real product user in a small way for recommending the product rather than rewarding a celebrity in a big way who has not even touched the product. this system creates real customer loyalty which buz word today. this industry now needs a regulation from the Govt. So that the industry can grow which will also help the county and its men grow

In many cases direct selling products are not as per people requirement. The products available in network marketing may not be useful for common man and prices are sky high. Some cases people are getting involved by influence. Later Many people fail to continue. Many things are hidded after paying high cost. No doubt Ultimately companies are benefited. Support from direct selling company is myth. Direct selling = Selling unwanted products to innocent people at v v v high cost.

If direct selling companies follow business ethics, it is really good. The uestion is Many direct selling companies not following any ethics. For Ex: QNET prices are completely hidden (doesnt matter the prices are high or low). Where is the option to people to chose right product at right price without becoming IR. Prices should be clear to public. Else company will enjoy and people will be losers. As same products are available in market at less price.
