In the past few months we all have worked in conjunction towards making Tumakuru a Smart City. The citizen feedback received in Stage 1 and 2 of this Challenge have been carefully analyzed to articulate the vision, goals and prioritized Area Based Development & PAN City projects proposed in the Smart City Proposal.

As part of the process for Round 3 Citizen Engagement, Tumakuru City Corporation is inviting everyone related to Tumakuru for your feedback as well as valuable suggestions on the proposal.

The real estate potential of HSR would be fully exploited by developing these new cities and, instead, be used as a tool to cross-subsidise the development costs for constructing and operating the HSR lines.

Especially awareness seems important for a smart city as certain potentials can only be mobilised if inhabitants, companies or the administration are aware of the cities’ position – knowing the city from the inside but also being aware of the surroundings and the system of cities the city is located in.

These cities would typically house 0.5- 1.0 million residents over the next 10-15 years, spread over around 100 sq km, similar to ones being developed along the DelhiMumbai Industrial Corridor.

Public spaces, open spaces, amenities and public buildings reflect local identity and are widely used by the public through festivals, events and activities.

Young generations should be given the education on agriculture as it is our back bone of the country and create as much as possible employment opportunities so that they don’t immigrate to urban places for employment

The new cities in India would also be frontiers of modern technology and forwardlooking urban planning techniques developed around HSR stations.
