In the past few months we all have worked in conjunction towards making Tumakuru a Smart City. The citizen feedback received in Stage 1 and 2 of this Challenge have been carefully analyzed to articulate the vision, goals and prioritized Area Based Development & PAN City projects proposed in the Smart City Proposal.

As part of the process for Round 3 Citizen Engagement, Tumakuru City Corporation is inviting everyone related to Tumakuru for your feedback as well as valuable suggestions on the proposal.

Historic and cultural heritage resources are preserved and utilised and their surroundings are well maintained. Public spaces, public buildings and amenities the cultural identity of the city.

It is a convenient 3 hours drive from Mumbai, an hour’s drive from Pune and is a whopping quarter size of Mumbai Lavasa is planned across four town centers.

Historic and cultural resources are preserved and utilised to some extent but limited resources exist to manage and maintain the immediate surroundings of the heritage monuments. New buildings and areas are created without much thought to how they reflect the identity and culture of the city.

. Lavasa, a planned hill station in Maharashtra, is one such. Billed as India's first hill city since Independence, it is developed primarily by Hindustan Construction Company(HCC) India and is set amidst 7 hills and 60 km of lakefront and spread over 25,000 acres.

Built, natural and cultural heritage is not preserved and utilised or enhanced through physical, management and policy structures.

Then there are the larger industrial townships like Jamshedpur, Mithapur and Modinagar, where the entire town’s administration is managed by the industry promoter (often uneasily) with the consent of the state government.

Therefore it is not useful to solely focus on the performance of only one aspect of city development but on the performance in a broad range of characteristics.
