This study was the first of its kind to focus on medium-sized cities, thereby
considering a broad range of factors and indicators, inherent to the concept of
‘smart cities’. As was stated before, rankings can only be meaningful when the datacollection
and analysis has been carried out in a transparent way (and hence, its
results should be reproducible by others).
