The versatility of bamboo is renowned, whether it's the tender shoots, used for pickles, murabba, and curries; the slivers, used for toothpicks and meat barbecues; ribs for fans or slats for sunscreens; or the dried culm as the sturdy lathi, furniture, decorative items, grocery bags, and for building the so-called bamboo houses. There are plenty of traditional uses of bamboo that can be adopted in the present for better sustainability. Bamboo is also used in drip-irrigation, jaapi, and cooking.
