Handlooms are an integral part of Indian textile industry. My family is fond of Khadi products like sarees, dhoti, set mundu and shirts. They always stand out among colourful and more luxurious garments with their classic beauty and elegance. They are also cosy and comfortable. In Kerala, Kuthampully and Balaramapuram are famous for their handlooms. The families there still use traditional weaving methods and both places are must visits.Due to covid they are struggling to make ends meet.

In 1905, August 7 a formal pledge was adopted at the Calcutta Town Hall to absolutely boycott the use of foreign products and shift to Indian-made products. After 100 yers later, in 2015, our respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first National Handloom Day

Make it mandatory those who will purchase handloom goods on this day or once in a month would be provided with an appreciate letter from ministry concerned, through out the country. Secondly, constitute a committee, who will judge best five work on handloom crafting and will honour the deserving craft personnel, women in particular, twice in a year as a part of promotional as well as motivational tools amongst unsung artist.

Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, those people who beg as beggars in cities, villages, temples and nearby areas, those people should be told about handloom and how it works, so that those who are poor Those who beg can earn some money by working for themselves and their families by using handloom and by which hunger and poverty can be reduced to some extent in India.
