(i) The running cost of an electric vehicle is much lower than an equivalent petrol or diesel vehicle. (ii) Electric vehicles have very low maintenance costs. (iii) Electric vehicles are also very quiet that helps in reducing noise pollution. (iv) Convenience of charging at home When you want to charge your vehicle, just plug it into a charger.

The emissions impact of electric vehicles is much lower than petrol or diesel vehicles. From an efficiency perspective, electric vehicles can covert around 60% of the electrical energy from the grid to power the wheels, but petrol or diesel cars can only convert 17%-21% of the energy stored in the fuel to the wheels.

To help the economy by introducing EVs,adding methanol to fuel, running on bio fuels is a great thing to happen. We should limit our crude purchase with above vehicles & methods. As I said earlier our domestic vehicle production is 28 scooters, 8cars per minute. The new addition of these vehicles will further shoot up the requirements. Are we able to meet this by renewable energy & bio fuels to withhold escalation of further fuel requirements. Hydrogen is another concept for new generation vehicles but how fast it can take on & the cost involved. A country like Singapore with limited land restricts purchase of vehicles. The car buyer needs to pay heavy charges as permit. The idea is to use mass transport. Too many cars on the road is also a big problem.Cities are getting crowded with parked cars.Roads become insufficient at peak hours. Parking in big cities is a pain. Who decides how many vehicles could be permitted in a city for the given area & population. Can a formula be possible
