As per Indian concept, everything exists for a reason. The grass, the worms, fish, ... all exists on earth for a reason. Billions of years before, many walked on earth and they were certainly not humans, they were mostly deadly animals and few less dangerous. This include dinosaurs. Humans were never the true "owners", as we like to believe, of planet earth. So pondering upon treating animals well is secondary just at least from an ownership standpoint.. Animals treated us well or the intellect humans possess made it possible to control even the most deadly creatures on planet earth.What made humans unique? Our sages, penetrated through other dimensions of life through meditation. They acquired immense knowledge and passed it on to generations. They well documented that humans and animals need to co exist in order to balance the eco system. Westerners, who relentlessly exploited nature, now are vouching for the need of nature preservation. India,as always,show path to the world.

Nature has created Plants and Animal Kingdoms to Co-exist with Human Beings. Nature has created Symbiosis arrangements between these 3 kingdoms. If we are kind to animals by not destroying their habitat, they happily remain within their territories without attacking us.Even the strongest animals like a lion or Tiger will not attack us if we mind our own business. Further if we ever took care of an injured animal, they never forget us and recognise us in future after a gap of long time also. if we are kind to them they will survive. The Jungles will survive. The plants will retain water and Soil for us to do farming with high yields of foods. Kindness towards animal brings a lot of happiness within ourselves resulting in good health etc.

Gandhiji once said "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way it's animals are treated." We Indians respect the cow and regard it as holy. In the south more prominently even snakes if found among people are not killed and are released into the wild. But these actions seem to be perfect when in public but does it still continue when it happens at our house? Do we still respect the cow or the snake who has tried to come into our house? No, my dear friends this does not happen at our houses. Even when the festival of 'Shraad' is celebrated we go out in search of animals to feed them but do we do it as a daily practice? Do we even keep a single chapati on our kitchen windows so that if some hungry bird comes it can have it satisfy itself. We are very biased when it comes to treat animals.

Excessive human interference; over exploitation and abuse of natural resources and unending greed is actually making this planet unsustainable.
