For passengers who are yet to board - could you not default enroll them based on their mobile phone used at the time of booking on IRCTC to provide subscription service of train arrival or late running using SMS, UUSD or if they are using mobile app - then notifications on mobile app.

One sure shot way of improving the arrival time is to publish this data to Google public Transit system which then allows Google and its whole bunch of android phones to alert the people who are following or querying trains to receive this information using Google Now notifications

It would also be great to get details of how Train enquiry system info is gathered at way-points and not just stations - we could then use a bit of heuristics on past data of train runs to create a game on predicting the arrival time of the trains using these waypoints.

Can we get a clean API (ideally RESTFul) for app developers to create more apps to proliferate the train running information? For example I can create a Glass app, iOS app with maps etc to use this information - but IR has to open up the data using a REST API first and foremost. They could host it out using public cloud providers if they do not want to burden their enquiry system.

Most reserved people, travelling to metro city has to take a additional local/suburban train ticket to reach their final destination. 1) If possible this local ticket can be purchased from TTE of the train itself. 2) Additional options has to be provided while reserving ticket, to add the cost of suburban travel also
