In 25-30 coaches train only 3-4 general bogies. It means planning should be more than 2 months before. A common man has either not to travel in Railway or pay heavy on Tatkal or TTs in Train. It means long journey (which is not possible by bus) is not possible for common man without planing. 50% bogies must be General bogies in a Train so if no reservation, no problem, man can enter in railway with his wife, children, old mother father. Railway should be for all not a special class -reservation

I have observed that the previous NDA govt has brought corporate structure to BSNL.This is urgent for railways also. The previous NDA govt may have promoted good road but this has increased the cost for transportation. Seperate rail network is required for goods tpt since it has been in profit. All metro projects need to be linked with rail networks.

Train Enquiry shall not be premium rate. The calling person already paying to the Communication Company, as well as paying to railway by purchasing tickets, then why the Indian Railway asking for more money just for informing the DELAYS which are Railway's INEFFICIENCIES and UNPROFESSIONALISM towards their Duties. Other enquiries of premium services may be charged.

For this we can send a SMS after every reservation online or offline through ticket centres on the provided mobile numbers telling them the ways for knowing the Train Running Status (TRS). As discussed that the number 139 is not toll-free which may be difficult for poor people to afford should be looked on. New toll-free number should be introduced for TRS. Any delay or change in the train’s time table should be informed to the traveller through SMS and e-mail.

Issuing of Platform ticket with online reservation ticket will reduce rush on ticket windows and we will move a step ahead towards paperless tickets. Example- If someone books ticket online then an option of platform ticket may be given in form itself with numbers i.e. 1 or 2 or 3. This will reflect in SMS of passenger that how much platform tickets he has bought. The peoples who comes to receive their relatives on station will able to directly to platform for receiving & TC can check SMS also.

139 is not a Toll-free number ! I was desperate to get information about my train's new timing after it got delayed..But..shame...I dialed 139 and for 1 minute, my 5 Rs. were deducted from the balance.Wonder how difficult it would be for the poor people to get access to free railway Inquiry !
