Taking serious note of the latest decision of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), the Chandigarh Administration has speed up the enforcement of ban imposed on the use of polythene carry bags/plastic bags/plates/cups and other allied material in Union Territory of Chandigarh. As per NGT directions there is also provision of imposing fine of Rs.5, 000/- "Environmental Compensation" to the erring person/entity per event, along with seizure of such stocks.

With the help of this discussion platform the Administration requests you to 'report the violations' (attach pictures or other details) regarding use of plastic carry bag/plate/cup and allied items on ww.mygov.in. Also, we would like to read your suggestions/ideas as well as practical/workable solutions for complete imposition of plastic (carry bag/cup/plate and allied items) ban in Chandigarh.

Honble'P.M. ji Sir. The more useage of plastic comes from functions, hotels, and from home too. Check on using plastic for each and every menu served can reduce the usage of such items. Serve food on one common plate or the traditional plaintain leaf.Do not serve sweets, soup etc in different cups. Hoteliers should insist on customers to get their boxes to carry parcels.this must be strictly followed. At home each member of the family to carry a cloth bag big or small whenever they go out.

Plastics serve a good purpose; so we should exercise how we can minimise its negative aspects instead of banning. The problems are: how to collect plastics & seggregate, how to re-use, how to dispose off harmful gases in the process - main problem is collection and segregating from municipal waste. I have a solution if Government is interested. Interested???

Honble' PM sir Basically the manufacturers must be fined for producing plastics.check must be done her.next the shopkeeper who gives plastic must be fine. Also consumer still using plastic must be given awareness about the bad effects of the use of plastic and ultimately with a warning should be good Fined . awareness must begin at every household, school, and all educational institutions. Children will definitely carry the message strongly than elders.
