Citizens of Gwalior extended their immense support at different stages in preparation of Smart City Proposal for Gwalior. Gwalior Municipal Corporation had organized workshops and meeting with different stakeholders since the inception of the preparation of the proposal. The overall reach of citizen participation including Round- 1 and Round -2 is more than 1.8 lakhs and still counting.
Gwalior Municipal Corporation is delighted to present its Draft Smart City Proposal for Round – II of the city challenge. The proposal is prepared as per the citizen’s aspirations and city’s utmost requirements.
“Conserving the past, creating the future” is the key theme of the urban retrofitting cum redevelopment model of Gwalior SCP. Maharaj Bada, which reflects the true glory of the Gwalior, is kept at the core of its Area Based Development (ABD) with conservation and Adaptive reuse of its heritage structures. Continuing the cultural legacy, museums, art theatres, Heritage hotel, Performing Arts centers etc are proposed in existing structures of Bada area. On the other side Gwalior is progressing towards 21st century metropolis. The state of art Gwalior Habitat and Trade Center will be developed on TOD principles that will house the world class facilities like convention and exhibition center along with housing options for all sections of societies.
Gwalior, a million plus city do not have any organized public transport system yet and is counting high on pollution. This presents a unique opportunity to address the issue of transport and Environment simultaneously though it’s Pan City Proposal. Clean and Smart Mobility options have been worked out along with smart waste management system.
Citizens of Gwalior are requested to share their suggestions/comments on the attached draft proposal by 25th June, 2016.
